Biography

Dutchman Martijn Vink already displayed great talent as a jazz drummer from a very early age. At the age of 16 he played sessions with Eric Vloeimans in Rotterdam jazz café Thelonious. He obtained his diploma at the Conservatory of Hilversum, where he was taught by Cees Kranenburg.

During his studies he toured with several big bands and he even toured across Europe as a member of German hard bop band NEA. While still a recently graduated musician he sided with people like Jesse van Ruller, Benjamin Herman and Jasper Blom. In 2002 he became the drummer in the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. In this band he accompanied, among others, Dave Liebman and Kenny Werner. Maria Schneider also complimented his exceptional drum talent in the Belgian press. In the Netherlands he became a member of groups around Tineke Postma and Martijn van Iterson.

In 2007 he joined the The Ploctones collective, which is very popular in the Netherlands.
