Pianist Christoph Erbstösser was born in Cologne, Germany. He studied in The Netherlands, went to the USA to take lessons with Richie Beirach and Jim Beard, after which he settled in Belgium.
He was active on the Belgian jazz scene for a long time and could be heard playing in various jazz projects, from straight-ahead over avant garde to fusion and latin jazz. As an accompanist, he has worked with big names such as Paquito D'Riveira, Randy Brecker and Bob Malach. He was also the Brussels Jazz Orchestra’s pianist for a while.
In 2001 the eponymous trio of which he is the leader, released the fantastic CD Vive les étrangers on our W.E.R.F. label.
