Pianist Eve Beuvens plays crisp, intelligent, present-day jazz. She has a refined sense of melody and plays both assertively and pliantly. There is a touch of Brad Mehldau in what she does, but she also keeps Lennie Tristano firmly in her rearview mirror.
As a young girl, her first interest is in the double bass, but soon the piano gets the upper hand. She has absorbed many influences since then. Already at a young age she knew jazz was going to be her thing. As a philosophy graduate she enrolled at the Brussels Conservatoire, where she took classes with Nathalie Loriers, Diederik Wissels, Kris Defoort and John Ruocco. She plays the piano in Tribute (a band with drummer Félix Simtaine and Pierre and François Vaiana), as well as the Brussels Little Big Band. She also plays in trombonist Andreas Schikentanz' quartet.
She has her own Eve Beuvens Trio and is the permanent pianist of the Cezariusz Gadzina Quartet.
