Geoffroy De Masure took up the trombone and piano aged 14. From 1985 until 1989 he studied at the Antwerp Conservatoire, where he did both jazz and classical music. Aged 18, he started a professional career with various rock/fusion bands.
In 1990 he moved to New York to perfect his skills and to dive into the local jazz scene. He was selected for the Canadian Banff Center for The Arts Jazz Program, where he was taught by the likes of Steve Coleman, Rufus Reid and Kenny Wheeler.

Upon his 1991 return to France he founded his own band Quadrature, which was spotted by the artistic director of the Orchestre National de Jazz, who promptly asked him to join his own band. They have worked with major artists such as Johnny Griffin, Larry Schneider and Toots Thielemans. 

From 1991 to 1998 he played and recorded with various French jazz groups and artists: Marc Ducret, Laurent Cugny, Serge Adam ‘Quoi De Neuf Docteur, ... He then moved to Brussels, where he met the musicians from Aka Moon and Octurn. 
The following years he played with various big names such as Joe Lovano, Charlie Haden, Mark Turner, Lee Konitz, Albert Mangelsdorff, Fred Hersch, ... He has also toured and recorded with no less than Steve Coleman.
