Janos Bruneel is a bass player who makes a difference to any ensemble. He studied in The Hague and Brussels with Hein van de Geyn, Frans van der Hoeven and Christophe Wallemme.

He has received many awards with various formations, including 1st laureate of the ‘Nationale Wedstrijd voor Muziek en Woord van de Dexia Bank’, ‘Octave de la musique’, ‘Dutch Jazz Competition’, ‘Pim Jacobs Muziekprijs’, ‘XL Jazz’, ‘Top Talent Scholarship’, ‘Jazzcat Rally’, ‘Motives For Jazz-Contest’, ‘Dinant Jazz Competition’ and the ‘2010 Sabam  jong talent Jazz Award’.

Janos has played across Europa, in Canada, Dubai… and shared the stage with the likes of Eric Vloeimans, Stephane Belmondo, Gwen Cresens, Angelo Verploegen, Jonas Knutsson, Jack van Poll, Dre Pallemaerts, Dee Daniels, Luke Howard, Bert Joris, Archie Shepp,...

He has played with groups such as Hamster Axis Of The One-Click Panther, DelVita Group, Alano Gruarin Bach Project, MissTriohso, Eef Van Acker Group, Mathilde Renault Trio, Lingo, Dufay Project, New Sadi Big Band, Luke Howard / Janos Bruneel, Jack van Poll Trio, Merijn Bruneel Quartet, Soo Cho Quartet, As Guests, ...

Janos Bruneel recorded his debut album ‘Lingos’ in 2008, which master Jack Van Poll spontaneously labelled ‘Neo African Jazz’. The band now also includes the Cools Brothers, saxophonist Daniel Mester and pianist Nicola Andrioli, doubtless familiar for his work with Philip Cathérine.
