Biography

Laurent Blondiau studied at the Royal Conservatory with Bert Joris and Richard Rousselet.

He can or could be heard in many groups or projects: Mäâk (formerly Mâäk's Spirit, of which he was the artistic manager), MixTuur, Octurn, Andy Emler Mégaoctet (France), Stéphane Payen Quartet, Nico Roig's band, Matters, Gabor Gado's 4tet, and is regularly invited by musicians such as Laila Amezian, Ghalia Benali and Giovanni Di Domenico.

What is also remarkable are his numerous collaborations with African artists. Before establishing the Mäâk collective he had his own quintet with Nathalie Loriers, Peter Hertmans, Otti Vanderwerf and Bilou Doneux (Queen of the Apple Pie, 1996).
