Biography

Manolo Cabras was born in Caligari, Italy in 1971. He studied classical violin at the local Conservatory. He swapped his violin for a double bass in 1989 and two years later he took lessons with no one other than Dave Holland.

He also took several workshops with among others, Marc Johnson, Miroslav Vitous, Palle Danielsson, etc. In Italy he played together with, among others, Paolo Fresu, Maria Pia De Vito, Tino Tracanna, Gianluca Corona, Augusto Pirodda, Alessandro Diliberto and Massimo Ferra. In 1998 he moved to the Netherlands where he played with, among others, Eric Vloeimans, Jasper Blom, Jesse van Ruller, Erik Ineke and Wolfert Brederode.

He then moved to Belgium where he has been living and working for many years. You can mainly see him at work with people like Erik Vermeulen, Ben Sluijs, Marek Patrman and Jeroen Van Herzeele. As a  bassist he has developed into one of the most in demand sidemen in Belgium.
