Drummer Marek Patrman was born in former Czechoslovakia. He started drumming at the age of three and studied classical percussion at the Conservatory of Ostrava in Janacek. Between 1991 and 1995 he was part of the Czech National Radio Jazz Orchestra.
Since 1993 he has been active throughout Europe and played at several festivals in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Spain, Greece, Poland, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, etc. He moved to Belgium in the mid-1990s and nestled in the local jazz scene. Here he can mainly be found in more contemporary projects.
He forms an almost inseparable rhythm tandem with Italian bassist Manolo Cabras. Together they were part of the group 'The Unplayables' of Ben Sluijs and of the Erik Vermeulen Trio. He currently also teaches at the Antwerp Jazz Studio.
