Matthias De Waele (°1988, Oudenaarde, Belgium) was an early music adept. At the age of seven, his musical grandfather encouraged him to enroll at the Academy of Music and Word in Oudenaarde. He played the clarinet and learnt solfege. At the age of 13, he discovered a profound love for the drums.
At the academy, he enjoyed lessons from, among others, Ronald Dhaene, Tom Callens, Johan Sabbe and Jonathan Callens. Matthias continued on his quest to become a better and more complete drummer and participated in workshops and private lessons from Mike Rossi, Hans Van Oosterhout, Hein Van De Geyn, Teun Verbruggen, Lieven Venken, Arnoud Gerritse, Toon Van Dionant, Laurent Mercier and many more.
