Robin Verheyen was twelve when he started playing the saxophone, yet already at the age of 25 he was awarded the prestigious Django d'Or. No wonder he is unanimously put forward as one of the biggest talents on the young Belgian jazz scene.

His talents as a musician are many. He initially studied in Amsterdam, where he formed Narcissus together with Flin van Hemmen, Clemens van der Feen and Jozef Dumoulin. He lived in Paris for a while after which he moved to the Big Apple to study at the Manhattan School of Music and take classes with Dave Liebman as well as Phil Markowitz. In 2009 the French Jazzmagazine listed him among the top 12 European saxophonists.

Alongside Narcissus he plays in his own International Quartet with British pianist Bill Carrothers, bass player Nic Thys and drummer Dré Pallemaerts. He is currently touring the world with the New York Quartet, with resounding names from today’s American scene such as Ralph Alessi (trumpet), Drew Gress (double bass) and Jef Davis (drums).
