Biography

(c) JazzLab Series

Simon Segers was inspired by music from an early age. He loved his father’s extensive record collection and soon learned to appreciate a variety of music. Musical activity was also stimulated by his older brother, guitarist Frederik Segers, with whom he has realised a variety of projects.

Around the age of 20 Simon developed great interest in jazz and improvisation. Since then he took lessons with Antoine Cirri, Marek Patrman, Teun Verbruggen, Toon Van Dionant, Jim Black, Mimi Verderame, Steve Clover and Arnout Gerritse. The past few years he was also very active in rock and jazz projects, because of which Simon developed his own style that is not evident on either scene. He regards jazz trio De Beren Gieren and rock band Stadt as his most personal projects in which he mostly participates as a creative musician. Other projects include Shtgn, Nathan Daems’ Black Flower, Nathan Daems Quintet, and so on.
