Joachim Badenhorst is undoubtedly one of the most promising young artists from the Belgian jazz flock. He once again proved this with his marvellous and enthusiastically received solo performance at the Belgian Jazz Meeting, which took place in De Werf on 2, 3 and 4 September 2011. He is a musical jack-of-all-trades who can be found in the most diverse projects in Belgium and abroad, but still manages to put his unique stamp on the music. Trombonist Steve Swell has been fused with the contemporary New York jazz scene since 1975. Since then he could be seen alongside, among others, a diverse flock of big jazz names such as Lionel Hampton, Buddy Rich, Anthony Braxton, Cecil Taylor and William Parker. Drummer Ziv Ravitz is a rising star in jazz land. He exchanged his homeland Israel to study at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. He then settled in New York, where he met the two other members of the International Trio. He is also a permanent member of the Lee Konitz New Quartet, Minsarah Trio and played with, among others, Thomasz Stanko, Joe Lovano, Avishai Cohen and Esperanza Spalding.
