Del Ferro – Vaganée Group
In spite of their busy agenda’s there was a strong need over the years to play music together, which resulted in this new record in the year 2012. Vaganée possesses a rare silver tone on alto sax, which is often reminiscent of jazz legends such as Art Pepper or Lee Konitz. But just like every saxophonist after John Coltrane, he can also blow that instrument in piercing flageolets and burst out in seriously emotional passages. Mike del Ferro is also an unprecedented multifaceted musician. His career is still all about the musical discoveries he makes all over the world. He has performed in 89 countries, where he shared the stage with musicians like Toots Thielemans, Jack DeJohnette, Oscar Castro Neves, Deborah Brown, Erik Truffaz, Richard Galliano and Norma Winstone. The combination of both gentlemen represents the best jazz improvisation in our regions has to offer. Together with the rhythm section of Jos Machtel and Jens Düppe, ‘Happy Notes’ offers a dream team.
