Co-leader of this project, trumpet player Chad McCullough, is one of the most versatile and creative souls from Seattle. He could previously be found alongside, among others, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Lee Konitz and Don Byron. As a composer he also wrote music for film, dance, brass ensembles, and so on. Together with drummer John Bishop he is also the driving force behind Origin Records, an American label for contemporary jazz with over 300 titles JazzWeek Magazine awarded ‘Label of the Year’ in 2009.
Drummer John Bishop has lots of musical experience and played together with big shots like Slide Hampton, Lee Konitz, Kenny Werner, Bobby Hutcherson, Carla Bley, Larry Coryell, Dr Lonnie Smith, etc. The quartet is completed by American contrabassist Chuck Deardorf, who has been active for over 20 years in the North-West scene of the United States and played with, among others, Bud Shank, George Cables, Kenny Barron and Charlie Byrd.
Their debut “Imaginary Sketches” has resulted in a lyrical record with contemporary compositions written by both leaders.
