Description

What will European jazz sound like in the future? This was the key question when establishing the international JazzPlaysEurope project. An attempt was made to catch a glimpse of the unknown by uniting six young first class musicians from six different European countries in an artistic blind date.

For the second edition Arts Centre De Werf was the host and during four days of rehearsal these six born artists created a full evening concert repertoire with unlimited artistic freedom, with which they then toured through Europe in the six participating countries. Our representative was young drummer Lander Gyselinck, the coming man of the Belgian jazz scene. We can also find pianist Oliver Maas (Germany), vocalist Kristina Fuchs (the Netherlands), guitarist Ivann Cruz (guitar), violinist Roman Janoska (Slovakia) and bassist Maciej Garbowski (Poland). The result of this intensive artistic creation was premiered in De Werf on 11 November 2011. The music was recorded live and this record is the result.
