Description

Joe Fonda (bass) and Michael Jefry Stevens (piano) put together a group of respected and talented players to perform their own works. ‘Live from Brugge’, recorded in 1997 at De Werf, Fonda and Stevens are joined by Herb Robertson (trumpet and cornet), Harvey Sorgen (drums) and Mark Whitecage (alto sax and clarinet).

Dividing the compositional duties, Fonda and Stevens created a mini-history of the post-bop era, both in instrumental technique and harmonic language, where the soloists are given a chance to show their individual mastery – a treat for the listener.
