Steven Delannoye Trio
The Steven Delannoye trio is a young, up-and-coming formation whose career gained momentum after they won themselves a place in the 2006 international Jazz Hoeilaart Contest finals. “Midnight Suite” is the band’s debut album on the W.E.R.F. label. It is a melting pot of own compilations and improvisations, filled with a fascinating mix of jazz with a hint of rock, spiritual music and the odd improvised tail end. The trio’s front man is the young saxophonist Steven Delannoye, who has performed in projects such as DelVita Group, as well as the more experimental Sammy’s on the Bowery, itself formerly working with Andrew D’Angelo, one of the most important saxophonists on today’s New York jazz scene. The rhythm section is in the hands of female bass player Yannick Peeters and drummer Lionel Beuvens. The latter is not new to our label, on which he can also be heard with the group aRTET, who released their debut album “Watts Up” with us in 2008. He also plays with bands such as Bender Banjax, Grass Monkeys, Peter Hertmans Quartet… Yannick Peeters has already made a name for herself on the Belgian jazz scene and played with the likes of Dre Pallemaerts, Frank Vaganee, Christophe Erbstösser. The general public knows her from her television appearances on De Tabel Van Mendeljev.
