Octurn’s second CD ‘Ocean’ again features compositions by Kris Defoort, plus others by Neal Kirkwood and Frederic Rzewski. This time each of the five tracks has its own distinct character, from the beautiful ‘Ocean’ (Defoort), to exuberant ‘Happy’ and mysterious ‘The Mirrored Self’ (Kirkwood) and Rzewski’s atmospheric ‘When the Wind Blows’.

In a genre where many ensembles are content to merely go through the motions of ‘playing jazz’, Octurn pushes the boundaries, exploring new areas and harmonies.
