Together with pianist Bart Van Caenegem, who could also be heard on our label with his then group High Voltage, he takes a musical journey through the 24 keys: from do major to do minor. The compositions are a type of miniatures in which several atmospheres and emotions are hidden. They were mainly inspired by the beautiful “Children’s Songs” by Chick Corea. Daniel Goyone (pianist of Trilok Gurtu) had this to say about the record: “While most composers are pianists, it is always refreshing to discover compositions of other instrumentalists. Bart Quartier plays the marimba and vibraphone and his music reveals several specific values, such as the importance of rhythm but also openness to other worlds of music. The variety of tonality and atmosphere give this work an interesting touch.”
