Wie de cd beluistert zou zweren dat Fonda, Morena en Hirshfield al twintig jaar samen spelen, zo sterk is de cohesie en bedrevenheid van hun geluid. Dit is een mooi voorbeeld van gerijpte jazz, gemaakt door een talentvol trio in een lang gevestigde traditie.

Dit vinden we terug over de CD in de befaamde Penguin Guide to Jazz: "The bass sound is very full, alternating deep bottom tones, played with maximum sustain, and fleet, upper-register lines which recall some avant-garde Ray Brown. It's difficult to point to influences on Fonda, though Pettiford, Chambers and Garrison, and a few echoes of Mingus are all in the mix. Impressive stuff, and as he recognizes himself, time to move on."
